As our way of giving back to our community, we are proud sponsors of Rep basketball under 12’s Red City Roar, and we provide opportunities for our youth through school-based apprenticeships.
We are also affiliated with Hair Aid, a not for profit organisation who cut hair for the homeless, and travel to third world countries to train at-risk women and men to cut hair so they can support their families.

A word from our clients…
My experience at Colour Shak, a haircut, was pleasant enough. As a male I prefer not to go to barbers and the Colour Shak did a great job on my hair and the hairdresser was very pleasant and attentive. However I discovered later that I could have had a wash which was within the price but not mentioned. Then when I was charged, a few dollars was added to my bill. This was for the owners own beliefs in conservation and 'saving the planet'. I should be given a choice as the owners politics aren't necessarily shared by others.
Tia gets my number one vote for my hair wash and scalp massage experience! I was left alone for a few restful minutes afterwards, wearing a hot towel and an eye mask, listening to relaxing music. My only thought was, ‘I hope I don’t snore!’.
Had a lovely wash & blow dry today. First visit at the Colour Shak salon. Great experience & lovely atmosphere. Recommend this salon and all the staff are very friendly & helpful.

Bella is an absolute delight and I love the way she cuts my short hair. She’s friendly, professional and I always walk out feeling fabulous. The whole salon is an inviting and happy place, it’s a wonderful reflection on the caliber of the team.
Couldn’t be happier with my hair, service and studio, all staff were a delight to be around, a bunch of truly beautiful people. The studio was very clean and their chairs where very comfortable (even having charging ports in the chair you sit in to rinse your hair, also hands down the most comfortable chairs to have your rinsed in!)
Shailey did my hair and was absolutely lovely she made me feel so comfortable, she was very professional and is extremely talented! She went to all measures to make sure I loved my hair, she offered multiple times to see if I needed a drink & they offered plenty of options. So inlove with with my hair & would definitely go back & recommend to family and friends! One of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a salon, the girl power and positivity really was so nice to have that energy around me!

Hannah saved me!! After falling victim to a hair massacre at another salon both with my colour and cut I was recommended the Colour Shak and what an awesome recommendation it was. After suffering at the hands of someone who should not be a hair dresser I was nervous but Hannah put me at complete ease. She is knowledgeable, talented and damn good at what she does. I can't wait to go back for my colour to be done.
The salon is beautiful too. What a find. I'm stoked.
I am very sad to right this review. Today I had to change my appointment due to a change in a delivery from bay island transport coming to 12.30 pm instead of the morning. I wasn't notified by bay island transport I called them at 8.30 to check everything was OK to find it wasn't. I am sure other island clients will understand. I said I could come after 4pm. I rang the colorshack as soon as they opened and even though I have been a regular client since they opened in redland bay they wanted to charge me a rescheduling fee to re-book of 35 aud. Needless to say I was very disappointed as the circumstances were beyond my control. So beware. Even though I regularly spend between 200 to 300 a visit my business was not valued I was advised by the manager that if I try to book there again this fee would be added to my bill.
Please note I have not cancelled or rescheduled before at short notice, plus I did tried to reschedule later in the day.
I had the privilege of being a Nanoplasty model with the lovely Kate at this gorgeous salon. Kate made the lengthy process so enjoyable, checking in, explaining the process and really just making sure I had the best experience possible.
I have the thickest hair ever and I'm incredibly fussy with who I will let cut, colour and touch my hair but I will definitely be back! The salon itself was super clean and all the other stylists were very friendly too! The vibe between stylists and the many other happy customers was great.
The results I've gotten with my typically curly, frizzy, unruly hair are nothing short of amazing!! Do yourself a favour and go see Kate at The Colour Shak!
